What can be resurfaced in your home?

What can and can not be resurfaced in your home

When it comes to revitalising an undesirable room in the house, nothing offers a more affordable option than resurfacing. At Edge Resurfacing, we provide aesthetically-pleasing and lasting results for our customers year in, year out.

Before we go into the ways we can help you resurface your home, here are some things we can’t or don’t recommend resurfacing:

What we don’t resurface

Floor tiles

Floor tiles are designed and manufactured to last for a long time with excellent durability. Over time, however, they can become stained, cracked, or chipped, making them look old and worn out. While it is possible to clean and polish tiles, resurfacing may not be the best option as we value our workmanship and can’t back that up when floor and shower tiles are notoriously in wet areas and the adhesion may not last.

Resurfacing tiles requires a process known as refinishing, which involves applying a new layer over the existing tiles. However, the challenge with resurfacing is that the new layer may not adhere correctly, resulting in an uneven surface. Additionally, if the tiles are severely damaged, resurfacing may not be a viable option, as it may result in further damage or a poor finish.

Good News! Resurfacing wall tiles is possible!

Stone benchtops

(Why would you!, but we’ve had the request…) It is possible to resurface most stone benchtops, but it’s not something we do at Edge Resurfacing. Generally, resurfacing this surface involves polishing, grinding, or resealing the stone surface to restore its appearance and smoothness.

General Surfaces:

Generally, surfaces that are heavily damaged, warped, rusted or have deep scratches or dents may not be able to be resurfaced and may require replacement. Also, some materials such as certain types of laminate, tile, and stone may not be suitable for resurfacing. It is best to contact us directly so we can help you determine the best course of action for your specific needs.
